Year 7 Transition 2021

We would like to welcome you and your child to the Chancellor’s School community; we are looking forward to meeting you at one of our transitional events over the coming weeks. Please be aware that due to the current Covid restrictions, it is likely that we will be using a combination of virtual and in-school meetings to conduct our transition this year.

Telephone Interview

As part of the Induction Process, we normally invite you and your child to attend an informal interview with a member of our Pastoral Team. Due to the current circumstances this is not possible, but we would like to conduct a telephone interview with you and your child instead. This will be a chance for us to learn more about your child and answer any questions that you both may have. In order to be able to do this, it is essential that you complete the online forms, including your email address and preferred contact number. The phone interviews should take about 5 minutes and will take place between the 7th and 18th June.

Secondary Transfer Day

On Thursday 8th July, your child will have the opportunity to experience a day at Chancellor’s School.  On this day, students will participate in lessons, be introduced to their Form Tutor, meet the rest of their year group and familiarise themselves with their new surroundings.

Students will need to wear their primary school uniform, bring a packed lunch, a suitable bag and stationery. If regulations still require it, you may need to provide your child with a face covering. Students should be dropped off at 9:15am. There will be someone to meet your child at the playground gates and take them into the school hall.

Please arrange to collect your child at 2.15pm from the side of the school hall, which is located next to the main reception.

If you have agreed to your child(ren) using the biometric system (consent is in the Personal Details Form – online form), their thumb print will be taken on the day, to be used in the school canteen in September. If you have not given permission for your child(ren) to use the biometric system, a pin number will be allocated to them instead.

Virtual Information Evening

Finally, on the evening of Thursday 8th July, there will be a a virtual information evening for parents and carers of Year 6.  At this event you will hear from a number of key staff and see your child’s Form Tutor.

We are of course operating under fluid circumstances that are changing all the time and we will endeavour to keep you updated on any revisions we have to make to the current plans. Current updates will be here on our website, but if you require any further information or have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at

We look forward to meeting you and your child during the Induction Process.

Kind regards,

Mrs Qoutteineh - Head of Year 7 and Transition
