At Chancellor’s School we are dedicated to ensuring that all students become lifelong learners in physical activity through outstanding teaching and learning. An extensive extra-curricular programme will support this, promoting independence and success. Students will benefit from excellent facilities and opportunities, and be able to place great value in having a healthy active lifestyle. We aim to do this by providing a challenging, respectful and safe environment which enables all students to thrive.

What will students need for PE?

Please ensure that your child has full Chancellor's PE kit for all of their PE lessons including running trainers. Some activities including: rugby, football and fitness will require studded or moulded boots to be worn. Please note boys will need their black kit for football, rugby and fitness.

For examination PE at KS4 & KS5, your child will need to bring their exercise book or folder to their lessons.

How can you support your child for PE?

Ensure that your child has the correct full kit for all lessons and encourage your child to be responsible for their own kit. If your child is unable to participate in PE, please send in a note with your child or an email addressed to the teacher. Your child will also need their PE kit so they can take on an alternative role within the lesson. In addition to this, if lessons are in the gym, your child will need to have trainers on to go in. Please encourage your child to attend extra-curricular clubs to help support their learning and maintain an active healthy lifestyle. We have a range of clubs running at Chancellor's and it is always brilliant to see so many faces attending these clubs. At present the government recommends 60 minutes of moderate physical activity five times a week. We at Chancellor's want to promote this on top of PE lessons and hope you support us with this.

If your child has been successful in any sporting event outside of school, please urge your child to tell a member of the PE staff. We would like to celebrate all successes with your child.

Extra-Curricular Sport

Chancellor's recognises not only team or school success, but also the success of individuals outside of school also. Please encourage your child to tell the PE staff about their individual successes so we can share in the celebrations with them.

At Chancellor's we have a range of extra-curricular activities running throughout the year. All information for these clubs are on the notice boards around the school and on the PE Twitter & PE Instagram. We encourage all students to attend.

Due to the number of fixtures we partake in, some practice dates may vary. Please see the school bulletin which sends out details of clubs 2 weeks in advance to see when each club is running.

At Chancellor's we aim to allow students as many opportunities as possible to participate in competitive sport.

Gym and Dance

On Tuesday 7 February 2023 we held our annual gym and dance display in the hall to showcase all of the hard work the students have put into their extracurricular practices and outside school sport.

On display were individual pieces, paired routines and group ensembles with various dance and gym genres performed. From beginners to the more experienced, the evening proved to be another great example of the hard work and enjoyment that these sporting activities bring to the school.

Tap, Ballet, Irish, Sports Acrobatics, Pure Gym, Street, Lyrical and Contemporary dance were some of the styles we were privileged to watch. The smooth movement from stage to floor, high octane to more sedate paces allowed us to enjoy an ever changing vibe as each piece was performed.

Next Year’s Gym & Dance Display is scheduled for Tuesday 7 February 2024.

Sports Awards Evening

On Wednesday 12 July 2023 we held our annual Sports Awards Evening. It was a very enjoyable evening and gave recognition to a large number of students who have worked hard and produced some outstanding performances and achievements. We recognise that there are many other students that are deserving of being invited to the Awards evening and we will be looking into how we could accommodate this for next years Sports Awards evening, which will be held on Wednesday 10 July 2024.
