Chancellor’s School Celebrates Black History Month 2026

Chancellor’s School has been celebrating Black History Month throughout October, recognising the achievements, experiences and contributions of Black people to British society and beyond.
As part of the celebrations, our Sixth Form Student Leaders planned and delivered assemblies to students across the school, highlighting the lives, achievements and contributions of Black and Asian British people, both within our school community and in wider society.
The assemblies also featured a powerful short film directed by Sixth Form student Miley giving a voice to the lived experiences of young people in our community and encouraging students to reflect on the importance of identity, belonging and mutual respect.

Stephen Hickman, Director of Sixth Form, said:
“This was a powerful and thought-provoking assembly that celebrated Black history, which is, of course, all our history. At a time when some seek to divide us, it is more important than ever that we recognise and celebrate the diversity and vibrancy of our community.
“I am particularly proud of our Sixth Form Student Leaders, who demonstrated real leadership, maturity and confidence in delivering such an important message to their fellow students.”
Black History Month provides an important opportunity for our school community to reflect on the past, celebrate the present and recognise the contribution that people from all backgrounds make to our shared future.
A huge thank you to our Sixth Form Student Leaders led by Hannah and Miley and everyone involved in making this year’s celebrations so meaningful.

Chancellor’s School Goes Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness
Students and staff at Chancellor’s School showed their support for Breast Cancer Awareness by wearing pink and raising over £80 for charity.
On Friday 23rd October 2026, students and staff swapped their usual school attire for a splash of pink, helping to raise awareness of breast cancer and support the vital work of breast cancer charities.
The event was an opportunity for our school community to come together, show solidarity with those affected by breast cancer and raise funds for an important cause.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK, with around 56,000 women and 400 men diagnosed each year. Raising awareness is essential in encouraging early detection, supporting research and improving treatment and care for those affected.
Thanks to the generosity of our students and staff, over £80 was raised through donations.
A huge thank you to everyone who took part and contributed. It was wonderful to see our school community coming together to make a positive difference, demonstrating that even small actions can have a meaningful impact.
Chancellor’s Sixth Form Students Explore Careers in Finance
15 October 2026 - Chancellor’s Sixth Form students welcomed Mohamed Mazari, founder of onDesk, for an informative and engaging talk exploring the different pathways into careers in finance.
Mohamed shared his own professional experiences and offered valuable insights into the world of finance, including the range of roles available and the different routes into the industry through university, degree apprenticeships and school leaver programmes.
Stephen Hickman, Director of Sixth Form, commented:
“An excellent session, perfectly pitched for our students. It was particularly valuable for them to hear about the different roles available and the realities of working in the industry. Hearing first-hand experiences from professionals helps our students make informed and ambitious decisions about their futures.”
We are grateful to Mohamed for generously making onDesk’s careers guides available free of charge to Chancellor’s students and families. These resources provide practical information about salaries, application deadlines and how best to prepare for a career in finance.
