Rachel Smith

Rachel Smith

Rachel works as a Consultant in Public Health in local government supporting the strategic development of programmes that aim to improve the health and wellbeing of people living with challenging circumstances. She also supports the local authority response to managing the health of asylum seekers, bringing primary care closer to neighbourhoods and the promotion and protection of mental health.

For the rest of the week Rachel is the Head of School of the London Public Health Speciality Training Programme. This involves a range of challenges to develop the postgraduate medical training of registrars on a five-year training scheme. As with all medical specialities leading this work involves the strategic needs of the NHS and partners across London, which means Rachel is always talking to someone about something.

Rachel has 2 children, her son is in Year 10 at Chancellors and her daughter in year 6 is hopefully joining in Sept 2024. Rachel is very keen on promoting reading.

In her spare time Rachel reads voraciously, plays in a brass band, and keeps bees in her garden.
