Sixth Form Aims and Responsibilities

At Chancellor’s School, we aim to help our Sixth Form students develop into mature and responsible citizens, who possess the skills and knowledge, and demonstrate the behaviour and attitudes required for the next stage in their journey.

Whether they choose to go on to further study, training or the world of work, graduates of Chancellor’s Sixth Form should be:

  • Intellectually engaged and curious
  • Highly literate, numerate and articulate
  • Resilient and self-regulating
  • Able to work collaboratively
  • Well qualified and professional in their conduct

Sixth Form Aims

  • Instil high expectations in our students that enable them to meet or exceed their target grades.
  • Develop students’ literacy so that they can access demanding and challenging texts.
  • Create independent, resilient, self-regulating learners that are ready to proceed to further study, training or the demands of the world of work.
  • Inspire students and fire their curiosity, so that they go on to become lifelong learners.
  • Give students the cultural capital to succeed as students, professionals and citizens.
  • Provide opportunities for students to develop crucial interpersonal (and other work-related) skills, which will prepare them to succeed in their chosen pathway.
  • Provide access to high quality, accessible information about guidance, apprenticeships and other relevant post-Sixth Form study and training options.
  • Support students to take opportunities to experience different future pathway options, including university and the world of work.
  • Expose students to a variety of professional role models, with whom they can engage and from whom they can learn.

Sixth Form Responsibilities

Chancellor’s Sixth Form students are expected to:

  • Commit thoroughly to their academic studies and endeavour to complete all learning to the best of their ability whilst meeting all deadlines.
  • Take advantage of the opportunities for personal and academic enrichment offered to them and to do their best to contribute to the communal life of the Sixth Form.
  • Seek guidance and support, as required, and take advantage of the resources and support in school, whether from subject teachers, form tutors or the Sixth Form team.
  • To fully immerse themselves in the intellectual and communal life of the Sixth Form.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions as to how Sixth Form life and learning at Chancellor’s could be developed.
